Sustainability - People & Planet
SUSTAINABILITY
Here at George Street Linen, we have a strong focus on making conscious decisions about the ways we design, produce and deliver premium linen that also helps our community and planet.
OUR VISION
We hope to continually inspire our community to think differently about bedlinen. We aim to support action, initiate change and continually innovate new ways to become more sustainable and eco friendly.
NATURAL FIBRES
OUR FAVOURITE FIBRES
Our cotton plants are picked each season and continue to grow.
Our linen plants are sourced from Belgium, uprooted each season, meaning the whole plant is used which leaves absolutely no waste. Our flax Linen farm has actually been noted to have a positive impact on eco-system diversity by retaining CO2.
We love Bamboo blends because of its amazing versatility. Bamboo can grow up to four feet in a day, absorbs five times more carbon dioxide than most other trees, and produces around 35% more oxygen. It regenerates itself quickly after harvesting and requires little water and no pesticides to grow well.
FARM OVER FACTORY METHOD
We opt for natural fibres over manufactured. Our product is sourced straight from the farm. Which has a much lower impact on the environment in comparison to that of synthetic fibres which emit tonnes of toxic fumes into the air.
BIODEGRADABLE
Another great reason to use natural fibres is that should the time come, our sheets are bio-degradable. Not to say our products break down. We make sure to complete multiple tests and use only long staple fibres to assure your bedding will last and get better after each wash.
NO CHEMICAL PROCESSING
When using natural fibres, they require gentle treatment. So there's not harsh chemicals or harsh dyes when creating our bedding. We also love to preserve all of those natural features as it does provide a more comfortable and effortlessly stylish look.
ZERO WASTE PACKAGING
Our bed sheets arrive to you wrapped beautifully in tissue and in our signature cardboard box. Everything we send them with can go straight into your recycling bin, all ready to make a new start as something new. Our duffle bags are recyclable too! or a great keepsake to store your linen.
BUY LESS, BUY BETTER
We do recommend replacing your cotton every 5-10 years, and if looked after with care, your 100% linen sheets will last a lifetime.
